7 Prodigious Chefs Showdown at JCF 2012 "Eat, Drink & Donate" Charity Dinner

What better way to end the month-long tummy-filing festivities at JCF 2012 than a charity dinner featuring signature creations from 7 finest chefs in Indonesia and paired with wine selected by wine expert Yohan Handoyo from Dimatique International. All proceeds from this dinner went to 3 charity organizations: Sahabat Anak, Taman Bacaan Pelangi and Drive Books Not Cars. Alas, let the feast begin!

1st dish:
Tuna Carpaccio with Okinawa Sauce and Daikon Salad
Wine pairing: Cape Discovery Rose 2011, Australia
By Hugo Adrian (Blowfish Kitchen & Bar)

2nd dish:

Wine pairing: Cape Discovery Sauvignon Blanc 2011, Australia
by Arimbi Nimpuno (Lifestyle Studio & ArimbiKitchen)

3rd dish:

by Sandra Djohan (Epilogue).

4th dish:

by Gianfranco Beltrame (Casa D'Oro at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski)

5th dish:
Steamed Fega Barramundi, Ginger Scented Rice & Lime-Coconut Sauce
Wine pairing: Vina Ventisquero Grey Chardonnay 2012, Chile
by Gilles Marx (AMUZ Gourmet)

Palate Cleanser: Orange Granita with Lemon Sorbet
by Ismaya Catering Co.

6th dish:
Roasted Lamb Shoulder Rack with Mustard & Taragon, Radish Agnoloti, Salsa Verde & Cepes Jus
Wine pairing: Kaiken Ultra Malbec 2012, Argentina
by Vindex Tengker (The Dharmawangsa Hotel)

Dessert:
Golden Hazelnut Praline, served with Amaretto Nougatine Ice Cream
by Steve Diaz (Colette & Lola - a coming soon dessert concept by Ismaya Group)

Ask which of the 7 was my favourite? My answer is the dessert! Hands down. Period. Case closed.

Steve Diaz is a genius! The outside of square praline is covered with edible gold dust. The semi-sweet hazelnut praline melted in my mouth and at the very bottom is this crunchy crispy layer of caramel nougat. After the first scoop, I finally believe that heaven on earth, truly exist after all. =)

Lastly, thank you Goorme.com for extending the invitation and also to Ismaya Group that has organized this month-long biennial festival in Jakarta. I am so much looking forward to JCF 2014, which will, undoubtedly, pack even more interesting line of events, chefs, and culinary activities. Ciao!
