Kitchenette

Bonjour à tous! If you're looking for tasty tantalizing sweet crêpes and savoury galettes (it basically means salty crêpes), Kitchenette is definitely the place to go. It was a Saturday night and despite the late hour (9pm at the time Mr. Kiwi & I came out from the cinema), this eatery was still very much bustling with patrons, noticeably groups of young adults and couples who chose to date the "healthy" way (healthy -> as in not clubbing...LOL). As both of us were quite full from snacking in the cinema, so we chose light items off the menu for sharing:
Strawberry & Kiwi Fruit Elixir IDR 35.000
& freshly queezed Kiwi Juice IDR 25.000
Seaweed & Melted Cheddar Cheese Fries IDR 35.000
Creamy Green Pea Soup with turkey bacon & parmesan croutons IDR 39.000
When we saw the Creamy Green Pea Soup, we were reminded of the pleasant surprise at Rumours, Bali so we thought we should definitely try Kitchenette's version for comparison's sake. But we were TOTALLY disappointed because the soup turned out to be substandard. It wasn't smooth, in fact rather grainy (? Grainy soup is NOT good). But let's not wallow in someone's flaw because admittedly Kitchenette serves a variety of quality food, only soup is perhaps not one of them.
Chicken & Egg Quesadilla with guacamole, salsa & homemade sour cream IDR 49.000
The Chicken & Egg Quesadilla was my favourite out of the items we ordered at this visit. Although initially Mr. K was rather averse to ordering it (because egg and quesadilla don't rhyme when put together), we decided to try our luck (I mean, how bad can the worst quesadillas be, right? haha...)
Banana & Yoghurt Parfait Cake (IDR 35.000)
And for the dessert we ordered the Banana & Yoghurt Parfait Cake. The waiter who attended to us was rather persuasive when he recommended this item. Judging from my previous experiences eating here, the desserts are nothing short of delish, so we thought why not give it a shot?
Apparently not all recommended items suit one's palate...The parfait cake was edible, but admittedly, it failed to ignite that "spark" that usually comes when I eat desserts (good ones, that is).

"When in Rome, do as the Romans do" (English proverb)
"When in French restaurant, order its French items" (Ravioli) LOL

I realize that Kitchenette is a French-inspired crêperie and of course its forte is in its French items, ie: crêpes and galettes. Since the items we ordered were not exactly French (fries is American, whereas quesadilla is Mexican), I will be fair to Kitchenette and not rate it based on this visit. Nevertheless, I'd still recommend it to my fellow foodies. Salut!
