Sands @Mangga Dua Square

Having dim sum for breakfast or brunch is a tradition observed by many Chinese-Indonesian families and the town has plenty of choices to offer the various types of families here. From the award winning Crystal Jade for the discerning taste buds (and wallet), to a 24 hours Dim Sum Festival that's popular among club-hoppers, to a budget-friendly dim sum buffet at Sands

The buffet is available everyday, from Mondays-Saturdays at 11.00-14.30 and Sundays 08.00-14.30. With more than 60 food items to choose from, I have to say that the IDR 39.900++/pax deal is an irresistible one. Hence, I decided to try this place out with my gal last Sunday. Believing that 'the early bird gets all the worms', I dragged my friend early and we managed to reach there at 9am. By that time, the hall was already bustling with a melange of crowds: big families, small families, couples, groups of friends, etc (should be a good sign...)

After being seated at our table, the waiters with the food cart approached us immediately. The dishes that we picked are:
Crispy Chicken Fillet with Thai Sauce
Fried Mantou
Shrimp Ha Kao, Kumis Kucing
After finishing those above, we were so full that we didn't have any second helpings, neither could we stomach anything else (that I actually would have loved to try).

When the bill came, we ended up paying approximately IDR 120.000 for 2 buffet, 2 Chinese Tea (that's actually served from a single teapot), tax and service charge. In general, the food here tasted just ordinary, at best. But for the price and the food variety, I suppose it's worth a shot.
