Reflecting back on my (countable) culinary experiences, I realize that I've never came across any coffee served in Vietnamese Drip Coffee style in Jakarta. Just a few weeks ago, I came across this Es Kopi Tetes (literal translation of Iced Drip Coffee) at Sate Khas Senayan by chance, and what a pleasant surprise it was! =D The coffee was fragrant (not espresso kind of fragrance, but rather indonesian style 'Kopi Tubruk' kind of fragrance). It was served with sweet condensed milk, which was a little too much (hence became too sweet), but with the ice cubes added, it made a perfect balance. Another pleasant surprise was the complimentary snack (choice of risoles or kroket) for the coffee we ordered. Perfect for tea time!
Not only the fantastic drip coffee, we also had a sumptuous (late) lunch. As they're having Bali festival, there are a number of Balinese dishes on the menu. We picked the tasty-looking Nasi Bali, and our choice was right indeed! The fragrant and savoury rice was served with a piece of sate lilit, shredded chicken, egg, mixed vegetables, sambal and crackers. To complete our Indonesian feast, we also ordered the Sate Manis Sapi and Tommy's favourite: Sayur Asem. I often wonder if he's actually an Indonesian packaged in pale skin and grey eyes...haha =P

ReplyDeleteHi there,
ReplyDeleteI think the good thing about Sate Khas Senayan in FX is its location. Very easy to reach from any part of the city.
I went there particularly because I stayed at a hotel next to the center. With regards to the food, I think their satays are by far better than the rest (although I didn't really try all of them).
