360° View 47 Floors Above: Sydney's O Bar and Dining

Happy new year guys! I hope your year kicked off to an awesome start! This was my first time spending Christmas and New Year in Sydney and I gotta say, Christmas in the summer may not be anything like the typical stereotype of European holiday season. The warm and sunny days mean longer daytime hours (means longer play time, so yay!) and there's plenty of time to savour the setting sunset at one of Sydney's best sky dining experience.

Last Christmas (that's my favourite Christmas ballad by Wham!), I gave my heart not to a man, but to this costantly revolving fine dining venue situated 47 floors above ground, in Sydney CBD: O Bar and Dining. The 360-degree revolving venue is nestled 1 floor under the penthouse floor of the Australia Tower, showcasing the beautiful vista of downtown Sydney from various vantage points.

This is the restaurant area - the bar is at the other side

O Bar and Dining is special not just because of the venue. The menu is an eclectic blend of contemporary fine dining with a healthy (and diabetic friendly) twist. Having experienced first hand, the dishes served here, I can attest that each plate is beautifully plated and garnished, unique pieces of edible arts indeed.

Our Christmas dinner got off to a bubbly start with this NV Louis Roederer Brut Premier...Cheers!

ENTREE
A light and beautiful start of our feast, as you can see in the photos below, how beautiful each dishes are! My personal favourite has got to be the White Miso Salmon Shoulder, the soy brings out the rich umami flavour and umami is the reason why sometimes you find yourself unable to stop when snacking on seaweed or other Asian snack.

Not on the menu - Compliments from the chef. This is a beautiful and refreshing tomato cocktail with tomato sorbet and tuna sashimi underneath. It was brilliant!

MAIN
For main course, each of us picked different choices: meat, seafood and poultry. Since I'm not a seafood fan, I picked the special beef of that day, which would be offered by the friendly and knowledgeable team at O Bar. I didn't record the name of the beef, but I remember something about ruby because of the cow's special diet, making the meat ruby red.

Chef's Special of The Day - I did not record the exact name, but it was a delicious slab of medium grilled steak, with pumpkin puree and grilled spring onions.

DESSERT
Even dessert is a healthy affair! Don't be surprised to find superfood ingredients such as activated nut, puffed grains, agave (sugar substitute), etc. Other than healthy twists, you could also find classic dessert such as souffle or cheese platter. Yes, I notice that cheese platter is actually considered dessert in Australia! How can I NOT love this country!!

Sweet market garden plate, aerated matcha sponge, candied vegetables & fruit.
Of the 3 dessert we tried, we concur that the aerated matcha sponge was our favourite, it was truly unique and the flavour combination was simply lovely!

A 2 course dinner is priced at AUD 90 and 3 course AUD 115, and reservation would be highly recommended. Nonetheless, for the price paid, regardless whether you are a visiting tourist, or a local resident, the breathtaking view just never gets old and it should definitely make it to your list of 'must experience' in Sydney!
