Jakarta Rooftop Venue: K22 Bar Terrace & View Gastrobar

If you have been to Bangkok or Singapore and you're into the bar scene, you would notice that unlike our neighbours, Jakarta has a dearth of rooftop bars. Yes, we do have a few that's been around for quite a while and still going strong today (like this or this), but I suppose hearing new names would bring a refreshing change to the relatively boring constant scene. So, let me introduce you to this hidden gem, which is located 22 floors above ground, with spectacular views of Jakarta's CBD, a gold course, and the national stadium in Senayan. Let's chill at K22 Bar Terrace and VIEW Gastrobar of Fairmont Jakarta.

Unlike the other existing rooftop venues, to access level 22 of Fairmont Jakarta, no hotel access card is needed, so you can even pass as a hotel guest if you feel like being discreet. So the entire uppermost floor is dedicated for 2 venues: an open air & casual terrace bar - K22 and a classy indoor gastrobar/dining venue - VIEW.

The photos above were taken before the sun sets. In the evening, both venues transform into something more mysterious and romantic and sensual (depending on your mood and interpretation).

Since both venues only open at 5 PM daily, it means that guest could enjoy different views at one visit. A clear skyline with clear lines and concrete structures with garish colours in broad daylight. After the sun sets, the night lights up in various shapes of glowing objects, some mobile, some static, some brighter, some dimmer. As a bar terrace and gastrobar, K22 and VIEW respectively has, undoubtedly, a solid range of alcoholic drinks list. The difference is, K22's menu have a short list of bar food, whereas the food served at VIEW, as the name suggests, is more interesting.

The very first time I went to dine at VIEW was for Christmas Eve dinner. The food photos below are not the actual dishes on the menu there, but should you request it, I think the Chef would be happy to try & recreate these beautiful dishes in beautiful plates & presentations.
