Last week had been a long weekend to those living in New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, South Australia and Queensland. The weather was excellent and everyone's mood seemed to be festive from the aniticipation leading to 2 crucial grand final matches in Australian sports scene: NRL in Sydney and AFL in Melbourne. Well, I didn't watch any of those games, but I was feeling festive either way for some personal reasons.
I caught up on a Friday noon at this place with a friend who just returned to Sydney. It had been a while since the last time I had middle eastern or mediterranean food. So, I was very much looking forward to the lunch!
The venue is very airy and well lit, not to mention there's plenty of tables to sit at. I culd imagine this place packed to the brim when screening live sports matches.
Browsing the menu was quite overwhelming to me, because I just want to try a lot of things! Talk about rice & lamb stuffed zucchini, za'atar chicken, feta balls, vine leaves, spced sausages and more, but I only have so much space in my tummy, so I had to make my choices. The lovely team members here would be more than happy to give you recommendations, ask for Frannie of William the bartender! View the full menu here.
So we ended up having these to share:
Mezze Plate $28 (Taramasalata, hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki, feta cheese, olives, pickles, kofta, pita brad triangles)
Zucchini Flowers $18 (tempura battered zucchini flowers, grated pecorino cheese, truffle oil & lime zest)
New City Prawns & Calamari $22 (potato starch coated, shallow-fried, seasoned with chili, salt, pepper, garlic & parsley, dark soy-based dipping sauce)
Candy Floss Cocktail $17
It's a lovely and well-spent Friday afternoon. With food and venue this good, I'd suggest coming early or making a reservation to secure a good spot.
