Worry not. I would spare all of us the agony. So, NO, this post is not going to discuss about the causality dilemma between chicken and egg (we better leave it to the 'eggsperts'). Instead I'm going to share with you about Chicken & Egg, a restaurant and bar in one of South Jakarta's throbbing entertainment hotspots, Cilandak Town Square aka 'Citos'.
Chicken & Egg is a casual restaurant with a fully stocked bar that specializes in dishes related to its name. The entire menu consists of either chicken or egg, or both, with mostly Western cuisine style, but with some Asian themed items such as the Spit-Roasted Indonesian Spiced Chicken.
The restaurant's 120 seating capacity is divided into outdoor (smoking) and indoor (non-smoking) areas. Its venue is custom-designed by Singaporean interior designer, with a theme that emulates a cage, which starts the moment you enter through the grilled doors. As you step in, above you, there is a hanging ceiling plafond with feather-like stencils, and to your right, is a chick 'Goddess' mural looking glorious with her flexed wings.
Let's move on to the menu.
Appetizers
Crispy Snacks Combo (for sharing) - a snack platter of potato skin with beef & cheese topping, crispy mushroom, french fries & onion rings, accompanied with cheese, salsa & tartar sauce dips.

Signature Rotisserie & Grill
Chicken & Egg uses an interesting customized appliance to grill its chicken: the oven looks like the photo below and the chickens let to 'sit' vertically and revolve inside the spit-fire grill for several hours to tenderize the chicken and let the marinades seep in. Not the most comfortable seats for sure!
The chickens served here are actually normal sized (so rest assured, the chickens are not on steroids or genetically modified) and not broiler chickens. So, kill any expectations of chowing down some super tender and moist KFC-like chickens. These are way healthier and not crazy fat kind of chickens.

Dessert
And for dessert, we had the Lemon Crème Brulee, one of the signatures of Chicken & Egg. The serving is quite big, so if you're not a self-proclaimed sweet tooth, I'd suggest you to share this. The lemon Crème Brulee is best consumed with the fresh red fruits chunks to balance the sweetness of the crème.

Cocktails - from the bar
I know the consultant hired to launch the bar of Chicken & Egg: BarSmiths from Singapore. They've come up with a rather interesting concept for the drinks, some of them are like Mojito Beer, Caipirosca Beer, and gigantic daiquiries served in massive goblet glasses! I didn't try the previous drinks I mentioned, and instead had the following mojitos: |
