Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar

First of all i'd like to begin this post by thanking Pullman Jakarta Indonesia who organized an instagram competition 'Eatsperiment', which I took part in and got selected as the second winner (yay!). So, for the 'Eatsperiment' competition, we were supposed to create a unique dish made from the various food available at Sana Sini Restaurant and then post a photo of the dish on our social media, with the description. Sounds easy? Not at all to be honest! Imagine creating a dish from all the already immaculately plated food, which already tasted good on their own.
Tempura Burger
My 'Eatsperiment' winning entry: Tempura Burger made with mini soft butter roll, spread with grilled sesame dressing & mayo, stuffed with ebi tempura, horenso spinach, grilled zucchini, mushroom ragout, corn and nori.
So, I had to work my brain a bit (most of the time it's my tummy that work hard *scoffs). Nonetheless, where there's a will, there's a way right? Voila, I managed to create 2 dishes: one was inspired from hawaiian loco moco, and the other one is a fusion of Japanese and Western, a Tempura Burger. The judging criteria was based on the uniqueness of the dish and the actual taste. So apparently, to pick the winner, they actually recreated each of the selected dishes and did a round of taste test! Imagine doing it at one go, salute for all of the judges, including Monsieur General Manager  Philippe Le Bourhis.

So, as the runner up winner, I am entitled to complimentary flight to Kuala Lumpur by Malaysia Airlines and 2 nights stay at Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar for 2 persons. It had been a while since I took a leisurely leave, away from the daily grind, so I packed my suitcase and took Mum with me. It was around the time when the missing MH17 happened quite recently, despite it, I still left for KL anyway.

So this post is going to show you around Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar where we stayed at. Location wise, it is actually at a major juncture of several highways, but still quite close to city center and other major tourist shopping center such as Bukit Bintang. The new hotel is still sparkly new, and the rate was still unbelievably affordable for a 5 star hotel standard, due to the opening promo period.

It is located within walking distance (albeit quite long) to the nearest LRT, Kerinchi station. The walkway is actually sheltered, but you have to find your way through the office towers. Since it is in a business district, there isn't anything to see or visit within reasonable walking distance. The nearest entertainment centres were either Bangsar (rows of shophouses for shopping & dining) or Mid Valley shopping mall.

Around the hotel
As a newly built business hotel, Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar maintains its Pullman personality: a modern & stylish hotel and it is well adorned with various art installation in many shapes and sizes.

Swimming Pool
The swimming pool and the gym may not be too fancy to boast about, but they serve the basic function and quite spacious, I must say. Did I take a dip? Yes I did and I'm happy to have the facilities all to myself, because the other hotel guests are busy having meetings & conferences LOL!!

The Room
So we were settled in the Deluxe Room with King Bed, a modern 35 sqm room with see-through (ya heard me, it's see through folks!) bathroom, which has a separate bath and rainshowers. The glass wall separating the bed and the bathroom makes it look more spacious when the blind's rolled up. Having such fast complimentary wi-fi in room, I'm happy as a clam!

Breakfast at Link all-day-dining restaurant.
But of course, an hotel staycation would be incomplete without trying out its breakfast (buffet). Link all-day-dining is the name of the restaurant for the guests to have breakfast buffet. The food selection has good variety, the standard Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Malay, Western, Dessert, bread, salad, cereals and live stations such as noodles and eggs.

Since this is a business hotel, my advise is to avoid coming for breakfast during the morning rush hour (6-8AM), as there would be a lot of business suit-clad ladies and gents, having powerful breakfast and scurrying to grab their servings. I personally, am not looking forward to be surrounded by too many people in morning (unless he's ultra good looking and good smelling LOL!)

Thank you Pullman Jakarta Indonesia for creating the competition and Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar for the warm welcome and the Accor hospitality that you have shown me and my Mum. We truly enjoyed our stay and we look forward to coming back again!
