Harbourside Rooftop Dining: Cafe del Mar

Can't believe it's already the end of November 2017! Days are getting longer and the weather is becoming hotter here Down Under...It's Summer again Down Under. Luckily, it's not full on hot yet (that would be around Jan-Feb, SO not looking forward to 40 degrees days!), so it's still a perfect weather to enjoy rooftop sessions, whether for lunch or sunset drinks or dinner. I have a good place in mind, that's located stretegically in the Sydney CBD area, beautiful view, delicious food and drinks to offer. I actually visited Cafe del Mar for the first time last year. So while the menu has changed now, I still decide to write about it anyway, because I think it's absolutely worth visiting.

Perched on the top floor of Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Harbour, Cafe del Mar sure is one of the best rooftop spots to enjoy the beautiful view of Darling Harbour and the occasional fireworks display in summer. The alfresco terrace offers a beautiful view, but if it gets too windy or chilly, there are plenty of tables inside.

If you fancy a nice set course, this place offers 2 or 3 Course Set Menu, alternatively, you can order from the A La Carte Menu (like I did). Looking at the one-page menu, which lists Starters, Shared Mains, Mains and Sides, I was quite indicisive (this is when my Libra trait is most pronounced!). Anyway, one had to decide, or else we'd never start! So we made our choices on the following dishes:

Cemin crusted beef carpaccio, globe artichoke chips, horseradish cream & pickled Japanese Turnip AUD26
Queensland grilled swordfish, braised gem lettuce, peas, broad beans, jamon serrano broth AUD 38
Crisp Berkshire pork belly, rolled loin, morcilla, pickled pear, cavalo nero, jus AUD 39
Pear Tart & Vanilla Ice Cream
I absolutely loved the carpaccio and the pork belly, but the highlight for me honestly had to be the dessert. It was a lovely combination of warm & cold, and very more-ish. The price is as what you'd expect to pay at a fine dining venue in Sydney. If you're looking to entertain an important colleague, business partner or just to have a romantic date for a special occasion (like a birthday or anniversary), Cafe del Mar surely delivers!
