Macaroni House is a real inspiring story about how a misfortune turns into a blessing with one's faith and fortitude. The owner's family used to live in Australia before they had to move back to Indonesia sometime ago. Left with practically little means since their repatriation and picky eater kids, Clara (the mother, owner and also gets hands on in the kitchen daily with her husband and team) had an idea of making her own baked macaroni for her kids' consumption. A challenge which then turns into a business idea! At first she started small, selling mostly via online, social media and word-of-mouth. Within a year or so, Macaroni House now settles at one of West Jakarta's well known food spots, Pesanggrahan, and the rest is history. From strangers to friends, Clara and her family's sincerity and diligence reaps well today. And I'm not writing this post just because she's my friend, because I believe this is a story worth sharing and I hope, would inspire us all. =)
The Location
Macaroni House is located at Jalan Pesanggrahan Raya, along the shophouses row or ruko just opposite Ranch Market Pesanggrahan. When you spot the Ikkudo Ichi signboard, you can slow down because Macaroni House is just a few rukos apart.
The Menu
The menu focuses on the specialty baked macaroni, savoury snacks and baked potato. Other items such as the sweet snacks, pasta and soup are just new addition to the staple, available for dine in.
The Taste
Clara insists on using only quality ingredients, another challenge they face, because understandably, finding a consistent and good quality supplier is not easy. And being family-oriented, Clara minimizes her use of MSG. The result? healthy and delicious home made food that taste like it came out straight from your own kitchen. Besides the Baked Macaroni, I would personally recommend the Potato Bacon Soup, which taste rich and creamy, as well as the Fettuccini Bumbu Woku, my favourite so far, rich with spices yet creamy.
