Almost everyone love brunch, well who doesn't? It's the lazy hours feast, past breakfast, but not yet lunch time, a huge spread of delicious food and drinks, which you can gobble up without giving a da*n in the world, because it's weekend, which also means diet-end.
Out of the so many brunch meals and brunch places that I've been to, so far none has left an everlasting impression n my mind. Most of them serve the standard eggs benny, waffles, french toast, and other mandatory (a.k.a. boring) brunch numbers. But recently, I might have just found one that I would most eagerly look forward to coming back for more...It's The Brunch Club at Potato Head.
#TheBrunchClub |
Potato Head, is one of the most steady modern diner establishment in Jakarta. Ever since its first public appearance back in 2009, the PTT Family group has expanded to a massive beach club/fine dining/bar in Bali, Three Buns in Senopati, Potato Head Garage in SCBD, Potato Head Folk in Singapore and a few other properties in Jakarta and Bali. Talk about expansion!
Truth be told, I could actually count the number of times that I came to Potato Head at Pacific Place. Reason being: I always find this place packed, both the indoor and outdoor tables and since I'm not fond of the smoke when there are too many people here, I'd usually end up elsewhere more quiet and less crowded. It's a good sign actually, as it shows how popular Potato Head is. But when I came here for brunch, a few Sundays ago, I actually got to see a more calm, comfy and cooler side of this place, that I never thought existed! Alas, I couldn't help myself but to take lots of pictures of the photogenic interior...
Potato head is widely recognised for its signature quirky wall mural, colourful window panes covering the walls from floor to ceiling.
It's very seldom to find the upper floor of Potato Head closed for public, but I was lucky that Sunday and so, I could capture a 'clean' shot of the rustic mezza nine area.

With quirky interior & architecture, comes great expectations for the food. I'm glad to find out that The Brunch Club menu, lived up to that expectations =) We had a rather tough time deciding what to order, because we're just so curious and wanted to try many things. But there's only so much space in two girls' tummies haha...
Ricotta Salad IDR 130,000 |
Ricotta Salad - homemade ricotta flavoured with basil, served with semi-dried tomato confit, local organic romaine lettuce & cheese crouton slices. We started easy, with something light and healthy, and dear Lord, this homemade ricotta is truly an appetizing starter! Oh, beware, the cheese crouton are rather addictive ;)
Prawns Benedict IDR 145,000 |
#yolkporn |
Prawn Benedict with crustacean hollandaise, sauteed local spinach, field mushrooms & crisped bread with local herb salad. I'm the type who would choose vegetables over seafood at any give time, but when I looked at a picture of this eggs benny, I just had to try it (because who would combine eggs benny with prawns and seafood based hollandaise sauce, right?) Not only does it look good and interesting, it also tastes so divinely good, well beyond my expectations.
Baked Egg & Mashed Potato with Spicy Oriental Herb Sauce IDR 100,000 |
Baked egg & mashed potato, served with cheese-baked crouton with sweet & spicy oriental herb sauce. From the Potato 'en Cocotte' selection, the coddled organic eggs are baked on top of a smooth potato purée, resulting in partly cooked egg white, partly runny egg yolks. It's an interesting dish, which I had not encountered elsewhere, so this is one of the must-try menu from #TheBrunchClub at Potato Head
Wake Me Up Sandwich |
Wake Me Up Sandwich, this is not on the menu. So you'll only know this menu exists if you've read this post ;) The sandwich is a slice of toasted baguette with generous guacamole spread on top and with sweet yam fries on the side.
With our full tummies in tow, we left Potato Head sated and contented, and to be honest, I look forward to another visit in the near future.
