Actually this place was open a few weeks ago, and I went there prior to the public opening. However, due to my brother's event, I had to postpone posting about it until, alas, today! So, get your pens and notes out, because I'm going to share with you about a beautiful brand new bistro (2nd floor) and dessert shop (1st floor) in Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta.
According to the owners, the word 'Sainé' is derived from a French adjective 'saine' means healthy, sane and Daise is a simplified version of d'aise (noun), which means comfort. So, together, Sainé Daise is a promise of a place that will offer healthy and comfort food, based on familiar Asian dishes and dessert experience by EIO Patisserie.
The first floor is dedicated for the Patisserie and the second floor, is the Bistro with an open space concept, only visibly divided between non-smoking indoor and balcony tables for smoking customers, as well as a bar at the far end corner of the room. From the interior, one can tell that this place subtly implies a premium price tag (at least for the local area's standard, but it's still comparatively not as pricey as what one would find in the South). One look at those rare marble used for the tables and you can tell already. This place certainly makes a lovely place for dating, business dinner or family gatherings.
So, menu wise, upon my assessment, I'd say it's pretty creative, adding a little healthy twists and Japanese elements here and there to (mostly) familiar Asian comfort dishes like gyudon, pasta, there's even Rawon (Indonesian black broth soup) on the menu! Creative indeed, but these are nothing I haven't seen anywhere else. So, since they're venturing into familiar turf, expectations are bound to be high.
I went before the public opening, so the kitchen and the service staff were still testing the waters, and as such, I wasn't overly critical about my assessment. So, here's what we had, yeah we came with a big group, so you'll scroll down a lot:

Of what we sampled that evening, I enjoyed most, firstly, the House Made Marinated Black Cod and Gyudon (I requested for additional serving of their secret sauce to pour on my rice, because I'm a type who likes her food moist & wet). My next favourite was the Valrhona Chocolate Mousse, it's so decadent, yet light, you won't realize it until your plate's empty!
In general, I think that Sainé Daise will currently stay afloat in the highly competitive F&B market, because it's new, the menu's familiar to most people, beautiful place and beautiful presentation. Taste wise, I certainly hope they'll only improve from the pre-opening stage. I'd say it's an improvement for local residents, so if they're craving for a rather fancy decent modern Asian meal, they need not travel so far as to the South, because there's Sainé Daise right at their door step.
