Hilton Bandung recently celebrated her 5th anniversary on 21 March 2014 with a series of celebration such as room promotion, special SPA packages and dining delights, which culminated with the High Five Asian Culinary Summit. During the Asian Culinary Summit, I was invited for a weekend staycation at Hilton Bandung along with a few of my food blogger friends from Jakarta. We set off on Saturday morning from Jakarta in a Big Bird's (of Blue Bird Group) comfortable 10/11 seater mini DELTA bus.

Upon arrival, we had a quick refresher at Magma Lounge (accessed from Lobby level). After nearly 3 hours journey on land, a glass of fruit punch is a much needed mood booster (apart from toilet break, of course).

This time, instead of King Executive Plus room, I stayed in this 45 sqm 2 Queen Hilton Executive room. Besides the spacious room, what's awesome is the double queen sized beds, which mean this room could actually sleep 4 adults comfortably. Now that makes traveling with family very convenient and money-saving.

It was lunch time and our tummies were growling like thunder, we had the privilege to dine at the heart of the Banquet kitchen, watched the chefs prepare our food live and enjoy the delightful meals that only selected lucky few would ever get the opportunity. Trip to Floating Market Lembang
Floating Market Lembang (FML) then hosted our group at its site. It took us some 45 minutes to reach the site from Hilton Bandung. FML is an absolutely lovely retreat for families, who can picnic, do various outdoor activities and enjoy the cool air and green surroundings. The practically free entrance fee (IDR 10,000 / person) entitles per guest to a cup of beverage (choice of various drinks from Nestle beverage dispenser).
The FML's site is a sprawling area of preserved lakes, with buildings at the edges which shelter various F&B retailers. But of course, the part not to be missed is the 'lake' surrounded with street food vendors on 'sampans', who offer their goods from the water (hence floating market). No worries though, you need not sit in a sampan to buy the food, because you can reach each floating stalls along the pavement by the water. But to make purchases, you have to exchange your cash with the FML currency, which looks like casino chips. Hold on to tight to the chips though, they are quite prone to falling.

Right from FML, we headed back to Hilton Bandung for the Asian Culinary Summit dinner with the 5 Guest Chefs. After about 10 PM, we retreated to our rooms and finally could enjoy the soft beds.

On the last leg of our staycation at Hilton Bandung, we had our lunch at Fresco restaurant, which is located on the 6th floor, just by the pool.

It had been one of the most fun staycation I've had so far. The only regret I have is that it lasted too short, but I am certain that this won't be the last time I'm staying here. Happy 5th birthday, by the way to Hilton Bandung. Congratulations for winning Tripadvisor's Travelers' Choice® 2014 for Families category and for staying as Bandung city's top rated hotel. Keep up the excellent service and hospitality and cheers to another 5 decades of glory... *chin chin!
