If there's anything I learn from rumours, is that I should never ever trust it blindly, unless it is supported by cold hard fact. I hate to admit that I let myself fall for some anonymous rumours about a place that is actually very much my type!
Odysseia in Pacific Place, opened its doors for the first time in Jakarta a little more than one year ago and is opening soon in Bali. I'm still mentally tortured from knowing that I've only dragged my outdated ass to this lovely place recently (Gawd, and I dare call myself a foodie!). But anyway, I'm going to make it up with the photos in this post, which I hope are decent enough to show you what I saw and felt!
Vintage, eclectic, cute, adorable, laid-back and cosy, are just some of the words that come to my mind when asked to describe about Odysseia's venue and feel. Contrary to the intimidating exterior (the place looks fancy and exclusive), once you walk past the black iron gate, you would feel as if journey-ing through a place that does not feel like in Jakarta at all. The entire area is heavily decorated, from the small table ornaments, to the stuff hanging from the wooden panels. As far as the eyes could see, you will be met with green plants and owls. Yes, owls, because that is the logo of All In, the name of the group which helms Odysseia and Fable.

The Menu
Journey through various parts of the world with Odysseia's international menu, which features a good mix of Western and Asian dishes from Appetisers, Soups, Salad, Pasta, Steak, Main Courses to Dessert. The Brunch Menu (eggs, pancakes, hash browns, etc) is available daily between 10 AM - 4 PM). Beverage wise, Odysseia's recommended are the Mocktails and Cocktails, but of course, there's also other alcoholic drinks as well as wine and non-alcoholic beverages.
The Drinks
I tried the following 4 drinks and I have only compliments for these, they are so refreshing! Not all pricey drinks taste well, but the drinks here are worth the money (as compared to those in the same price range at other places).
Oasis Odysseia - Fresh Watermelon and Lychee fruits and Monin Passion. I love how much fresh fruits are infused not only as a feeble attempt to make the drink prettier, but also to add real flavours in it.
Thin Mint and Baileys Chocolate Float - Baileys Irish Cream, Paper Menthe Green, Chocolate Ice Cream, Whipped Cream and Chocolate shaved.
Berry Me - Raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, Chambord, Grey Goose, raspberry syrup.
Peach Strawberry Royal - Fresh strawberry, peach, strawberry & peach syrups, Ginger Ale & fresh lemon juice. Again, generous amount of fresh fruits pulp, refreshing, quenches the thirst and temporarily appease growling tummies waiting for the food to be served.
Left: Berry Me Cocktail IDR 110,000 Right: Peach Strawberry Royal IDR 55,000 |
Left: Oasis Odysseia IDR 55,000 Right: Thin Mint and Baileys Chocolate Float IDR 125,000 |
Appetisers
Crab Wontons with cream cheese filling and served with sweet chili. This is a must-try, especially for cheese lovers, I melted with the gooey cheese inside!
Crab Wontons IDR 85,000 (5 pcs) |
Escargots. One of the better escargots I've had so far, the snail meats were braised in red wine, then steamed in generous garlic and butter. The result is tender escargots with rich butter and garlic scent.
Escargot IDR 95,000 (6 pcs) |
Main Course
Lamb Chops with gratin potatoes and asparagus. New Zealand lamb marinated in herbs and olive oil for 24 hours before grilling, served with creamy potato gratin cooked with garlic, onion and cream cheese.
Lamb Chops IDR 235,000 |
Miso Grilled Salmon with snow peas and served on top of rice in light teriyaki sauce. The tender and moist Atlantic miso-marinated salmon might taste plain alone, while the teriyaki rice a tad too sweet when eaten separately. However, when combined together, they actually balanced harmoniously, and surprisingly became my favourite Main Course among those I tried.
Miso Grilled Salmon IDR 155,000 |
Wagyu Rendang Steak served with fried rice, fried egg, pickles and prawn crackers. This is literally an upscale upgrade of Nasi Goreng, although the rice feels more like a side than the main item here. The Wagyu in rendang sauce stole all the attention!
Wagyu Rendang Steak IDR 145,000 |
Tempeh Reuben, sauerkraut with Russian dressing, homemade toasted sourdough & Smoked Paprika Fries IDR 82,000 |
Chicken Parmigiana - fried chicken breast topped with tomato ragout, mozzarella & served with Parmentier potatoes IDR 92,000 |
Aussie Lamb Chops - marinated, char-grilled Australian lamb served with potato gratin, sauteed asparagus & lamb sauce IDR 258,000 |
Carbonara (salmon, penne) IDR 108,000 |
